The Appelo Archives Center, founded under the Wahkiakum Community Foundation in 2005, became an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in April 2010. The vision of founder Carlton Appelo, the center was established to celebrate and share the rich history of the Naselle-Grays River Valley and its surrounding areas.
Dedicated to preserving and promoting regional history, the Appelo Archives Center houses extensive collections, supports genealogical research, and hosts educational and community activities. It also fosters Scandinavian studies, with a special focus on Finnish-American heritage, making it a hub for exploring the unique cultural and historical identity of the region.
